The National Association for Agricultural Tourism was formed in 1988.

The purpose of the association is:
The association’s purpose is to promote and improve the conditions for Danish rural tourism, so that rural tourism becomes a real earning opportunity for Danish rural areas

The first catalog was released in 1989 with 79 hosts.
The association has been supported in the establishment phase by the Farmers’ Associations.
